Knocked out in 125th place. Didn’t make very much money. Lost all my chips with AQ against KQ. I’m ready to go home. Off to tha airport, finally! Goodbye Vegas.

Roller coaster
Well not even half an hour back from dinner and I was in 2 huge pots. The first I went all in with 77 on an 889 board and got called by a guy with JJ, that knocked me from 600k to 225k. Then I got it all in on the river with the Ace high flush and got called to double me up. Chillin at 450 right now which is about average. 155 left, 9 players away from the money.

Dinner break
I’ve done pretty well this level, worked my way up to just over 600k chips. The average is around 450 I believe. I’m going into dinner with a healthy stack and a healthy mind. There were a couple big hands— first I was in the big blind and the small blind raised to 25k, I called with 86 offsuit. The 457 flop hit me in the face and he bet 30k first. I just called. The turn was a...

Ups and downs
I got back up to 500, I got down to 250 and now at 350. Hasn’t been a great day for me but not disastrous either. There are 220 players left, we should make it to the money by tonight. I haven’t played any particularly large pots- I did lose with AJ against a short stack that had AK when we were both all in before the flop. Shortly after that I got a lot of it back when I bet the whole...

Update
1500 players started, there are 400 left, we make the money at 150 players. I’ve been up and down but mostly down since we started. The table is much tougher than yesterday’s. At around 400k right now which is still plenty. The average is 200k.

Oh
And for those confused- 50k is not a real amount of money I started with and 500k isn’t a real amount of money either. They are both just fake tournament chips. So don’t go thinking I’m playing for crazy stakes here.

Silver Lining
So it’s true, I got knocked out of the Main Event. BUT- a friend told me about a tournament at the Caesars Palace that would attract around 1500 entrants and pay around $500,000 to the winner so I figured I might as well give it a shot since I was already out here. We started out with 50k in chips on day 1 and wouldn’t you know it… I finished the day as one of the chipleaders...

Dissapointment
Well I didn’t even make it past day 1 this time around. I’m bummed but I played as best I could. I got dealt some great starting hands but none of them held up. First my two pair ran into a rivered straight. Then my aces got cracked by a set of tens. That’s when I was down to 15k and hovering. On the last hand I held AK on A75 board with two diamonds. The money went in and I was...

Nothing to report
Still hovering around 15k. Can’t get anything going.

Still alive. But...
Just had aces cracked. Down to 15k.

Joe Hachem
The 2005 WSOP champion just took a seat at my table. I’ve played with Hachem before- he knocked me out in 7th place in a 2006 preliminary WSOP tournament. It’s time for some payback. I’m sitting on 25k ish right now.

Early action
About an hour in an I lost 8k with two pair to a guy that made a straight on the river. Then I won 3k with aces, then I flopped a set of queens but only won a little. It’s so early in the game that even if you make big hands you don’t necessarily win big pots. We started with 30k and I’m sitting on 28ish right now. via mobile

The Main Event
The time has come for another run at the world series of poker’s championship event. The field will most likely be smaller than years past, but I still expect over 5,000 entrants in this year’s tournament. I’m playing well, feeling great, and looking to make a splash this year!

Outtie
Just got knocked out. Lost most of my chips when I went a little raise crazy with A9 and ran into JJ. Ahhhh well, so it goes. I’ll be back in July for the championship.

Some hands
Well I really haven’t played many big pots at all today, which is the way I like it. Small and steady chipping up. But here are a couple. Hand 1—I found AA in the small blind. Early position raiser makes it 400 to go at the 75/150 level. The guy after him raises to 1100. Comes to me and I raise it to 3600. Immediately after me the big blind goes all in for 8500! Everyone else folded...

Dinner break
So far so good! I’ve made it to the dinner break with 55k chips. I’ll update some of the hands I played in a bit, but right now I’m hungry. We play 3 more levels I believe tonight.

Growth
My chip stack is growing ever so steadily. Made a bunch of good plays, a couple of bad ones, and got some decent cards in between. There are 732 entrants in this event, and the top prize is over $800,000. Wishful thinking?

First break
I’ve been told by other regulars that I know here that I have one of the toughest tables in the tournament. A lot of high stakes online players and a couple of previous WSOP bracelet winners. It’s not phasing me though, we started with 15k chips and I’m sitting on about 23k right now. Nothing too spectacular to report, just slow and steady poker. We are about to start level 3.

2011 WSOP
I’m stoked about starting the 2011 WSOP off today! I’m playing the $5,000 6-max bracelet event. 6-max means there are only 6 players per table and that in turn means the play is fast and aggressive right out of the gate. The fact that it is a $5k tournament means many of the recreational players won’t be in the field, it’ll be loaded with pros and certainly won’t...

Final thoughts
I might have been able to wait for a better spot to make my move but I think I made the right choice. The player I was against was vey agressive and had shown a couple bluffs already. With my hand I was close to a 50/50 chance to win when the money went into the middle and like I’ve said before those are the kind of hands you have to win if you want to go deep in this tournament. Oh well...
Jul 13th
And it's over.
That was quick. I’m out of the tournament. I called a raise preflop with 45 clubs and saw a flop of AQ3 with 2 clubs. The original raiser bet, I raised and he reraised all in. If I didn’t call I would have been left with 50k chips which I didn’t think was enough so I decided to go with the straight and flush draws. He had A9 and I didn’t make my hand. Sucks to have grinded...

A hand from yesterday
I dont think the ha d from yesterday made my lat post so here it is.. One of the bigger hands I played yesterday was an interesting one. I was in the big blind at the 1k/2k blind level and it was folded around to the button who was a somewhat loose player. He had been raising my blind all day but surprisingly just called, as did the small blind who was a very tight player. I had AJ in the blind...

Day 4 draw and a hand from yesterday
My friend Brandon gave me the info that my table draw for day 4 is looking pretty good. Several average to lower sized stacks to my left and the two big stacks directly to my right. For those that aren’t familiar with poker positioning, it’s a pretty good spot to be in considering my stack size.

End of day 3
I’m pretty bummed about losing that ace-ten hand. I’d be around 250k if it wasn’t for that. Instead I’m at 120k to finish the day. It’s not the end of the world but it’s starting to be a low stack compared to the rest of the field. I went the whole day today with having AA or QQ once, and had KK only once. I’ve said it before, to win this tournament you...

Blah
Someone went all in with king-ten. I called with ace-ten. Before the flop. Two kings on the flop and I’m down to 70k. Yuck. I can’t win this tournament if I can’t win those hands.

Back to business
Were about to get started again- we have 2 more hours of play until we bag up for the day. Unofficially I’ve heard there are 1400 people left with an average stack of 130k. I like my table, I like my reads, and I’m focussing on not doing anything stupid and making day 4. Here goes… Oh and thanks pete and steev or the inspirational lyrics

Dinner break
It’s time for dinner.. I have 165k. We will play 2 more hrs of poker when we get back. I’m happy with where Im at.. And I’m hungry! Thanks for following along.
Jul 13th
Almost dinner
30 mins to the dinner break and things are clicking for me. Up to 170k and playing well. Getting decent hands and putting pressure on the table. The blinds are 1k/2k with 300 ante so the pots are becoming sizeable.
Jul 13th
Break
Were on break. Since my las post I’ve calmed myself down, gotten some decent hands, made some tough calls, and worked my way back up to 140k. Omar told me I’m not allowed to bluff anymore so I’m going to take that to heart. Feeling good and staying calm.

And of course I blow off 50k on a bluff immediately after the break. Fuck fuck fuck
Jul 12th
Booya!
I doubled up right before the break to take me to 130k. I had A8 on the button, there was a raise, I called and both blinds called too. Flop AQ8, I just called te flop bet and so did one of the blinds. The original raiser bet again when the 3 came on the turn and I moved all in. He called with A7. Playin slow and steady.
Jul 12th
Tough
Luck not on my side yet today. When I flop the nuts I get no action and when I try to make bluffs I’m running into the legit hands. Down to 60k.
Jul 12th
Shuffle up and deal!
Cards are in the air. No huge stacks at my table. Looks like some tough players though. But I’m tougher.

Business time
Day 3 is here and there’s some serious work to do ahead. I think there are roughly 2700 people left of the 7500 that started and I’m assuming we’ll play down to around 1000 today. The money bubble is right around 750 so it will be very surprising if we hit that today. I have almost an almost exactly average chip stack of 80k, which is plenty to manuver with. Once again,...

Day 2 is over
Well I guess all in all it was a pretty good day. First of all I survived, which was goal number 1, and second I have a decent sized stack of 80k going into day 3. It should be a little bigger but I got frisky toward the end of the day and it cost me. Anyway I have enough to manuver on day 3 and my mantra will be very similar to what it was today- play my game and survive. We should make it into...

End of the day upon us
It’s that time again, spectators are being kicked out. Mirz is still coasting, took a couple small hits but I thunk he is still over 100k. He will update once the level is over in 15
Jul 10th
Just a small ouchy
Mirzas first to act. Calls small raise. 3 players. Board shows T9Q4 with 2 hearts. Mirz bets 5k and gets one caller. Bets another 9 on the river - guy calls and shows top pair. Mirza mucks
Jul 10th
And it starts...
The boozing that is. Don’t worry mom and dad, I’ll only have a couple drinks (each hour)
Jul 10th
To call or to fold, that is the question...
Flop is 425, 2 clubs. About 8-10k in the pot. Mirza checks, guy to his left goes all in. Mirza takes couple minutes deciding and folds pocket 9s.
Jul 10th
The big three
First hand Mirza first to raise and act. Bets 2k, gets one caller. Flop 653 with 2 diamonds. Mirza bets and guy folds. Next hand, mirz throws same bet pre flop (2k), table folds around and mirz collects blinds (400s and 800b) and antes (100). Next hand, pre flop guy raises to 2k, next to act re-raises to 6k, mirza re-re-raises to 18k. First guy folds and second guy goes all in for about 3k on top...
