Roller coaster

Well not even half an hour back from dinner and I was in 2 huge pots. The first I went all in with 77 on an 889 board and got called by a guy with JJ, that knocked me from 600k to 225k. Then I got it all in on the river with the Ace high flush and got called to double me up. Chillin at 450 right now which is about average. 155 left, 9 players away from the money.

Dinner break

I’ve done pretty well this level, worked my way up to just over 600k chips. The average is around 450 I believe. I’m going into dinner with a healthy stack and a healthy mind. There were a couple big hands— first I was in the big blind and the small blind raised to 25k, I called with 86 offsuit. The 457 flop hit me in the face and he bet 30k first. I just called. The turn was a 2, he checked and I bet 50k, he called. River was an ace and he checked again, I bet 140k hoping he would think I was bluffing and would have to call. He must have thought for 5 minutes and came so so close to calling but ended up throwing it away. That would have been a nice addition to my stack. The other big had was when I raised AJ to 27k preflop and got called by the big blind. The flop was J54 all clubs. I bet 45k and the guy check raised me to 105k. I thought for a while and ended up shoving all in for 350k more and he ended up folding after a long think. So I’m cruising at 600k but this tournament certainly isn’t getting any easier. All the pots are big and we are about to get into the money. There are 170 left and they pay 146 and higher. Looks like I won’t be making it to work tomorrow…

Ups and downs

I got back up to 500, I got down to 250 and now at 350. Hasn’t been a great day for me but not disastrous either. There are 220 players left, we should make it to the money by tonight. I haven’t played any particularly large pots- I did lose with AJ against a short stack that had AK when we were both all in before the flop. Shortly after that I got a lot of it back when I bet the whole way with KK and won. I also won an all in with A6 against a short stack’s JJ. I’ve bluffed off some chips too but I don’t even want to talk about that… Damn I love buffing too much

Update

1500 players started, there are 400 left, we make the money at 150 players. I’ve been up and down but mostly down since we started. The table is much tougher than yesterday’s. At around 400k right now which is still plenty. The average is 200k.

Oh

And for those confused- 50k is not a real amount of money I started with and 500k isn’t a real amount of money either. They are both just fake tournament chips. So don’t go thinking I’m playing for crazy stakes here.

Silver Lining

So it’s true, I got knocked out of the Main Event. BUT- a friend told me about a tournament at the Caesars Palace that would attract around 1500 entrants and pay around $500,000 to the winner so I figured I might as well give it a shot since I was already out here. We started out with 50k in chips on day 1 and wouldn’t you know it… I finished the day as one of the chipleaders with over 500k chips! I wish I could have run that good in the Main Event! In any case, day 2 starts at noon today and I’m looking to hopefully make up for my shortcomings earlier in the week. Here goes!
